Medallion Quilt Along Border 2

First off I want to share my happy news!  I've avoided surgery!  My toe is still aligned and healing well.  I won't be able to drive for another 4 weeks. I'm in a boot, it's keeping my toe safe.  So while I'm grounded I'll be sewing away.

How is your medallion quilt coming along?  Are you ready for the next border?  Do you remember those cute little bow ties I showed recently on Moving it Forward?  Those are for your next border.  Aren't you excited?
For each bow tie you will need 2- 2 1/2" background squares, 2- 2 1/2" and 2- 1 1/2" squares from your bow tie fabric.  You will need 44 sets of these.
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the fabric on the 1 1/2" bow tie squares.
Place in one corner of a 2 1/2" background square. Sew on the line you drew.

Press back the bow tie square as shown.  I like to make sure it covers the square before I trim the seam allowance.  Trim seam allowance to 1/4".  Repeat with other 1 1/2"  bow tie square and 2 1/2" background square.
 Arrange bow tie as shown.
 Sew together
Repeat with remaining 43 bow tie sets.  Then sew zig zag style into 2 rows of 10 and 2 rows of 12
Sew the set of 10 rows to the sides of your medallion quilt.  Then sew the set of 12 rows to the top and bottom of your quilt.

Sit back and enjoy the progress you've made on your medallion quilt.  Try to patiently wait until next month for the next border.
