Hawaiian Applique and Adventure

Hubby and I had a wonderful anniversary in Hawaii.  One of my favorite parts was visiting the mission home at the Polynesian Cultural Center and seeing all the beautiful Hawaiian quilts.   What an art!
They had this display to show how it was done.  I don't know if I'll ever make a quilt like this but it was fun to see how it was done and to get to stitch a few stitches in a sample they had for people to try.

We also spent a day at Pearl Harbor.  This tree of life monument gives me a little inspiration for a quilt.  I might have to play with that soon.
We also enjoyed all of the beautiful scenery.  I loved watching the ocean waves with all their power and beauty.
We also had fun watching the surfers on North Shore ride those big waves.  The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing was going on while we were there.  My boys would have loved it.
We had a lovely time!  The weather was perfect!  It's nice to be home though.  I'm ready to play in my scraps.
