I've had the rounds of a Christmas tree skirt cut out for several years now. I knew I wanted to do applique on them, but was having trouble figuring out what exactly I wanted to applique; trees, houses, snowmen. So many ideas; so little time. So I kept putting it off.
My quilt guild has a thing called the Ott Light. Each month everyone who is at the meeting has their name put in a drawing. If you are drawn you have one month to finish a project your ought to have finished by now. Guess who got drawn last month. Me!
It was just the push I needed to finish my tree skirt. I pulled out my green and brown scrap bins. Cut up a bunch of trees and trunks. Arranged them around my circles and got busy appliqueing them down. Before long I had this cute little top.
Over the weekend I sandwiched the layers. I have until noon on Thursday to get my Oh Christmas Tree skirt quilted. Wish me luck!
