Because this month's border is made up of three different blocks I'm going to do a separate post for each block. One over the next three days. Today's block is a set of cute little trees. You will need a Tri-Recs Ruler.
Cutting: From background for each block: Cut 1- 6 1/2" x 1"rectangles , 2- 5 1/2" x 3/4" rectangles, 1- 2 1/2" x 2 3/4" rectangle, 2- 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" rectangles, 2- 1 1/4" squares, with the Tri-Recs ruler cut 2 recs pieces that mirror each other using the 4 1/4" and 2 1/2" lines (found I could cut strips of fabric in 6 1/2" x wof, 5 1/2" x wof, 4 1/4" x wof, 2 1/2" x wof you could cut out the background for all your blocks)
From various scraps cut a 1 1/4" x 3/4" rectangle, a 1 3/4" x 1" rectangle and using the Tri-Recs ruler cut a 4 1/4" and 2 1/2" tri piece.
From green: 1- 6 1/2" x 1" rectangle
Take your tri pieces and sew one of the rec pieces to one side. Make sure to have a 1/4" point extend as shown.
Press toward the backgroundRepeat process with the mirror rec piece. Once again making sure to leave your 1/4" point extended.
Sew the 1 3/4"x 1" rectangle between the 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" rectangles.
Sew the 1 1/4" x 1" rectangle between the 1 1/4" squares
Sew the 1 3/4" unit to the bottom of your 4 1/4" tree and the 1 1/4" unit to the bottom of your 2 1/2" tree.
Sew a 5 1/2" x 3/4" rectangle to each side of your larger tree
Sew the 2 1/2" x 2 3/4" rectangle to the top of your small tree
Sew your small tree to the right of your big tree.
Sew a 6 1/2" x 1" strip to the top of your tree unit
Sew the 6 1/2" x 1" green strip to the bottom of your tree unit.
If you have the smaller 2" bow ties you will need 12 of these blocks.
If you have the larger 2 1/2" bow ties you will need 14 of these blocks.
